My journey to setting up my travel business
I had always held a passion for travel, I was lucky enough to spend five years travelling the world as cabin crew with Virgin Atlantic. New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai were my favourite places. I hung up my wings to work in recruitment, before leaving to start a family.
I wasn’t actually a full time stay at home mum. My husband set up his own pet food business and I found myself juggling a lot of roles to support him: Sales, marketing, administration, customer care – even helping him to build a stand at his very first exhibition!
As my children grew and started school, I found myself wondering… what’s next?
Becoming an Inspire travel homeworker
I considered many options, but needed something to fit around the needs of my family. Homeworking seemed to be the ideal solution. Travel homeworking seemed perfect, but where could I start with no formal travel agency experience?
Inspire recognised my commercial awareness and sales experience from working with my husband’s business, which now successfully and operates in 16 countries worldwide. I like to think I played a part in its growth. Certainly the experience of helping to start the business from scratch has proven useful for my new role with Inspire.
What is my life as a homeworker like?
After my first booking, it has been non-stop! I find myself working in my business full time, but I can still fit in family life around my business.
Become a home-based travel agent with Inspire
We consider applicants with a strong sales, marketing or commercial backgrounds to join Homeworking by Inspire. Self motivation, attention to detail and customer care are all essential to the role. You will attend a three-day training course to equip you with all the knowledge you need to become a home-based travel agent.
